A: A peril is an event that can cause damage or loss of value to your property. This is true, regardless of whether or not it is covered by homeowners insurance. The types of losses to your personal property that are covered are often referred to as the named perils. An uninsurable peril is an event or situation that isn’t covered in your policy that may result in damages or loss to your personal property.
